Terms of use
Last updated 25 October 2026.
Crime Rates Map is free to use. These terms explain what it is, what it is not, and the few things we ask of you. By using the site you agree to them.
Who we are
Crime Rates Map is run by RAFAEL CARDOSO LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17323841), registered office 17 Nethercroft Lane, Danesmoor, Chesterfield, S45 9DE, England. Contact: dev@rafaelcardoso.co.uk.
Cost
Crime Rates Map is free to use, with no paywall and no sign-up. It is paid for by advertising: Google ads on some pages outside the UK, and one ad space on the map that we sell directly (see advertise). Features may change, but what is free today will not start to cost money.
A guide, not advice
Crime Rates Map summarises published data about recorded crime, schools, health care, transport and shops. It is a starting point for your own research, not advice. In particular:
- The scores are our judgement of what the data shows. They describe the past and cannot predict what will happen to you.
- The data comes from other organisations, can be incomplete, late or wrong, and some areas have none (see what Crime Rates Map cannot tell you).
Before you buy or rent, visit the area, and get professional advice where it matters, for example from a surveyor, a solicitor or a mortgage adviser.
Using Crime Rates Map
You may use Crime Rates Map for your own, personal purposes, such as choosing where to live. Please do not:
- copy the site's data in bulk, use automated tools to collect it, or offer it as a data feed or service of your own;
- try to overload the site, or do anything that harms it or other visitors.
The underlying data is published by its owners under the licences listed on the About page. Those licences, and the attribution they require, apply if you reuse that data.
API
The API is free, and access is by key on request. If we give you a key:
- show the attribution that comes with the data wherever the data appears;
- treat it as a guide, not advice, as for the rest of the site;
- do not resell the raw data, or offer it as a competing dataset;
- keep your key to yourself. It is personal to you, and we may revoke it for abuse or for going over the limits;
- do not expect any promise of uptime.
Availability
Crime Rates Map is provided free and as it is. We may change it, pause it or stop it at any time, and we do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors.
Our responsibility to you
We take care to present the data accurately, but because Crime Rates Map is a free guide and not advice, we are not responsible for decisions you make using it, or for any loss of profit, business or opportunity. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects your rights as a consumer.
Other websites
Crime Rates Map links to other websites, such as listings and data publishers. We are not responsible for their content or how they handle your data.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed; the version shown when you use the site is the one that applies.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
How we handle data is explained in the privacy policy.
